One Wisconsin Institute

The mission of the One Wisconsin Institute is to advance progressive values, ideas and policies through strategic research and sophisticated communications.

In partnership and as a resource to allied organizations across the state, the Institute provides in-depth research and analysis on core values issues in Wisconsin including voter rights, tax and budget policies, threats to public education, and, since 2011, the impact of the student loan debt crisis.

The Institute’s work is explicitly designed to fill a unique niche of impacting public policy through strategic media and online communications; providing useful and useable policy research to allies; and to promoting civic engagement through public education.

One Wisconsin Institute is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that operates in a joint agreement with One Wisconsin Now, a 501(c)(4) advocacy organization, and its shared research and leadership have appeared in thousands of media articles at the national, state and local levels, and communicate online through social media and email with our 50,000 subscriber base. The organizations are established newsmakers, and a sought after source for information and perspective on issues and decision making in the state policy arena.

The Institute is an affiliate of ProgressNow Education, a national network of 21 state-based 501(c)(3) organizations with a shared purpose of improving communications strategy and delivery in the progressive movement.
