Depression Era Glass Society of WI

Depression Era Glass Society of WI

DEGS of Wisconsin, Inc. was founded in 1974 by a group of spirited individuals who wished to meet regularly and discuss American-made glass, china and pottery. Originally part of the 20-30-40 Society from the greater Chicago area, our club has grown and prospered over these past 40 years!

While our primary focus is the wonderful glassware from the 1920s, ‘30s, and ‘40s, our society does not limit its study and collecting to just that area. Members collect samples from the late 1800s through the 1960s. This diversity of interest makes for lively meetings and discussions!

Membership is open to anyone 16 years of age or older, who has a sincere interest in the glass, china, and/or pottery collecting from the Depression Era.

We gather once a month, 10 times per year, with no meetings planned for June or July (the prime flea market and rummage sale season). Our meetings consist of a short business meeting, a brief discussion of a particular glass company or pattern for which members are encouraged to bring samples, an opportunity to have pieces identified, a break for refreshments and socializing, and a featured presentation. Some of our past feature presentations have included not only club members with an expertise in a given area, but authors and collectors from outside Wisconsin.
