Join us in January as we explore the stark and subtle contrasts between Syrah and Shiraz. Many wine drinkers may not realize it, but both wines are produced from the same dark-skinned, hearty French grape. While our cousins in Australia chose the name Shiraz based on a belief in the grape’s Persian heritage, wine makers in the US and South America have mostly stuck with the original French name, Syrah. Each Wednesday in January we’ll present a tasting of one Shiraz and one Syrah side by side and let you experience how regional differences in soil, climate, and landscape (what the French all terroir) can determine the outcome of these bold, flavorful wines.
$5 pours of two selected Syrah and Shiraz wines each week.
