Songs of the Inspired Soul

 

On Tuesday, February 4, the Peltz Center for Jewish Life will be hosting a unique multimedia concert, Songs of the Inspired Soul, to mark 70 years since the beginning of the leadership of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneersohn, of blessed memory.

This beautiful multimedia production shares six of these Chassidic melodies, played by a string quartet, each preceded by short film telling the fascinating story of that particular song. A story that touches on hallmarks of the Rebbe’s teachings, it is the struggle of the soul to come to terms with her existence in this cold, indifferent world, and her realization that her destiny is intertwined with the elevation of the mundane. Indeed, there is an ancient Chassidic saying that goes, “If words are the quill of the mind, then melody is the quill of the soul.” On Tuesday, February 4, at 7:00 PM, at the Peltz Center for Jewish Life, these two quills will dip in the same well of ink.
