Rosie Herrera Dance Theatre

 

This Miami-based dance company presents “Make Believe” and “Carne Viva,” two works that explore the links between the religious faith of childhood and the romantic love of adulthood. The two works were sparked by Herrera’s childhood, as she grew up in a household that welcomed both Catholicism and Santeria. Herrera, a coloratura soprano, also sang with several novel choirs, including Sacred Harp and Thresholds, to research the pieces.
