Clark Gable, Wallace Berry, Jean Harlow, Rosalind Russell, Hattie McDaniel China Seas features not one but two major leading men of the 1930s; Clark Gable and Wallace Berry. Gable plays the handsome leading man while Berry is the tough best friend. Gable’s the captain on a Singapore bound ship with some very mysterious goings on. Disagreements between Gable and Berry are common as they vie for Harlow’s affection. Harlow and Russell meantime begin fighting over Gable. All this adds up to a fun-filled action film that pays more attention to the stars, than it does to the story.
