About the Lecture by Steve Schaffer
In the 1840’s Milwaukee was starting to thrive. Solomon Juneau, Byron Kilbourn and George H. Walker did their best to get people to settle on their side of the river. Commerce increased, trading developed and the three became wealthier. There was one problem . . . they didn’t like each other. Hear the story of how the city and tensions grew. Settlement was competitive, the local ingredients of woodlands, potential farmland, and new business opportunities created a thriving metropolis which celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2018.
