Elephant Appreciation Day

Elephants are facing HUGE challenges in their wild habitats. Through a trunk full of activities, come to appreciate the role these magnificent animals play in our natural world.

Join us Friday, May 20 as we celebrate the world’s largest land animal during Elephant Appreciation Day! This annual event hopes to inspire appreciation for these magnificent creatures and encourage visitors to join in elephant conservation efforts. Elephants are among the most intelligent

Hay Room Tours – Learn about elephant diets and get a unique look at some areas of the Elephant Care Center not usually open to the public!

Marketplace – A limited number of paintings made by our elephants will be available to purchase, with all proceeds going to elephant conservation efforts. Be sure to get one before they’re gone!

Elephant Ears – Grab a set of elephant ears to look just like Ruth, Brittany, and Belle!

Zookeeper Display – Learn about the tools and methods zookeepers use to care for our elephants.

Trunk Game – See how many elephant pellets you can pick up with your “trunk.”

Enrichment – Ruth, Brittany, and Belle will receive special enrichment at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Animals in Action Talk – At 11:30 a.m., learn more about our great grey friends during this special presentation at the Elephants in Action Pavilion.
