Electric Steel: Recent Photographs by Michael Schultz

This exhibition include many photographs from Mike’s recent work—both nationally and internationally—in a variety of electric steel mills.

These are not the mills of Hilla Becher, Charles Sheeler, or David Plowden—traditional, integrated mills with some of the largest industrial apparatus ever created. Instead, this collection is drawn from work on a smaller scale. Here, electric arc furnaces supplant the hot-blast stoves and furnaces of the large mills. Ore, charge, and flux are replaced with scrap and charged electrodes.
