MILWAUKEE, WI……….For anyone looking for beautiful music in a beautiful setting, CIVIC MUSIC will present its Showcase Recital on Sunday, February 9, at 2:00 p.m. in the Milwaukee Art Museum’s dramatically elegant Windhover Hall, 700 N. Art Museum Drive. Talented young musicians from CIVIC MUSIC’s High School Music Competition will perform against a backdrop of an amazing Lake Michigan view. This recital is free and open to the public. To enjoy the museum’s collections and exhibitions, patrons will need to pay the Museum admission fee. For more information, call 414-483-3223.
This recital will be a fantastic mix of classical and jazz from some of the most talented young musicians in the five county Milwaukee area. As one of Milwaukee’s oldest arts organizations, CIVIC MUSIC has been active in developing the musical life of its community since 1918. CIVIC MUSIC’s mission is to support music education and provide performance opportunities for young musicians in the greater Milwaukee area. CIVIC MUSIC offers a variety of scholarship and performance opportunities to students in grades 4-12 through private lessons, auditions, workshops, master classes, competitions and performances before a live audience. These programs allow participating instrumentalists and vocalists to hone beneficial life skills like creative thinking and collaboration through the study of music. CIVIC MUSIC reaches over 200 young musicians in the greater Milwaukee area. More than 95% of programming involves students 18 years old or younger.
