Bike Tour - History of the Menomonee River Valley

Presented by Menomonee Valley Partners, Inc at Harley-Davidson Museum

Join us as we pedal through the Valley's fascinating history with highlights from the last 200 years.

This leisurely bike ride is for riders of all levels and includes frequent stops to learn about wild rice marshes, Milwaukee’s first railroad, public art along the trail and the stories behind them, and heavy industry that made Milwaukee the Machine Shop of the World. Discover remnants of the past along with a sculpture park, a haven for trout fishermen, and a 24-acre park that once rumbled as railcars carried goods to and fro. The Menomonee River Valley has been recognized nationally for its transformation from Wisconsin’s most visible eyesore to the thriving eco-focused business and recreational destination it is today. You're sure to leave with a new appreciation of this area in the heart of Milwaukee.

This ride starts at the corner of 6th Street and Canal Street, across from the Harley-Davidson Museum. A little over four miles in length with two mild grades, total distance including return to the start point is about seven miles. We recommend bike helmets and water bottles.

All proceeds support Menomonee Valley Partners and continued efforts to revitalize 40 acres of riverfront land, connect youth to future careers, better connect the Valley to adjacent neighborhoods, and more.

For the enjoyment of participants, this tour is limited to 15 people.

This event is part of 2019 Valley Week presented by Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. Valley Week is an annual event celebrating Milwaukee's Menomonee River Valley: what is made here, who works here, all there is to do here, and the great jobs and careers here.
